Little Stories
A ceramic practice centred on hand-built forms and material research. Each piece is hand-built and glazed by hand, developed through testing and observation.
The world around us is the biggest art project of all, but in particular nature. The rugged texture of trees, the details in rocks, the carved silhouettes of cliffs from far away.
Pulling these inspirations within my work is a celebration of the origins of clay and a return to it at the same time.
In an era when we spend most of our time indoors, it is essential to bring a touch of the natural world into our homes. My practice, ‘Little Stories’ is a tactile expression of my intuition as well as an invitation to contemplate the natural essence of the unrefined organic, the beauty in imperfection, and, subsequently, life.
My choice to hand-build each piece is my own rebellion against our increasingly accelerated existence, returning to the slowness of traditional craft. I fundamentally believe that curating our environments with handcrafted objects is not an aesthetic choice, which our materialistic world will preach, but an essential act of preserving our connection to the natural world, a reminder of the very earth we've grown distant from.
